The widely supported and popular Microsoft Office tools are coming to the iPad, further boosting the popular tablet device’s impact across businesses. Already the must-have tech device in the office, the iPad will now allow native editing and creation of Office documents.
This means that users can go beyond reviewing desktop-based colleagues’ Office docs in viewers and using a suite of second-rate experience third-party apps on the device. Soon they will be able to review, edit and create native Office files themselves.
Popular tech blog, The Daily, got an early look at the Microsoft Office suite on the iPad. The three Office tools included in the demo they saw, Word, Excel and Powerpoint, all worked perfectly well with the touch interface of the iPad. Office for iPad is expected to be released to the Apple App Store ‘within weeks’.
